Born as the fourth of five children in Kashmir , Kousar’s early life was marked by the bustling vibrancy of her homeland. However, at just one year old, her family made the significant decision to move to Kashmir, where she spent her formative years in a small, village. Surrounded by beauty of hills and a close-knit community, Kousar’s childhood was filled with the sounds of laughter, the warmth of family. Yet, this peaceful environment was marked by limitations. Opportunities were scarce, and the horizon seemed confined to the village borders.
At the tender age of nine, Kousar’s life took a turn. It was the day she left behind the only world she had ever known, embarking on a journey that would reshape her future. This journey took her to Birmingham, in the United Kingdom. Upon arrival, her family lived with her uncle, navigating the complexities of a new country while sharing a household. A year later, her parents’ hard work bore fruit, and they bought their own mid-terrace house, marking the beginning of their new life.
The transition to life in the UK was daunting. The language sounded like incomprehensible sounds, the cultural differences seemed insurmountable. Kousar found herself in a strange land with no friends, struggling to understand the new world around her. Yet, amidst the chaos and confusion, one thing remained constant: her parents’ unwavering belief in the power of education. They held a steadfast wish that all their children would receive an education, a dream that Kousar embraced wholeheartedly.
As she grew older, Kousar initially ventured into the field of pharmacy, following a path that promised stability and respect. However, as she delved deeper into the profession, she realized that her true passion lay elsewhere. The world of engineering, with its blend of creativity and problem-solving, beckoned to her. Kousar made a bold decision to change her career trajectory and become a chartered engineer.
During her university years, Kousar demonstrated exceptional commitment to her education. The transition to engineering was not without its challenges. In her BEeng Honors degree course, Kousar faced a stark reality: she and one other girl were the only female students. This gender imbalance was daunting, often making her feel isolated in a male-dominated environment. But with determination and hard work, she overcame these obstacles, earning her credentials and establishing herself as a skilled engineer.
Kousar’s career as a consultant saw her working across diverse sectors, including telecommunications, healthcare, software, and the Metropolitan Police Services. Her expertise and innovative approach earned her a reputation for excellence, and she was sought after for her ability to solve complex problems and deliver impactful solutions.
Not content with just national impact, Kousar extended her influence globally. She trained people not only in the UK but also in the United States, Europe, Qatar and in San Francisco.
